What Makes a TXT File Larger Than It Needs to Be?
TXT is the simplest document format: unformatted plain text with no styling, images, or metadata. Its size comes almost entirely from the characters it contains — but files exported from other tools often carry extra trailing spaces at the end of lines and long runs of blank lines that add bytes without adding content.

What Doesn't Change

Because plain text has no formatting overhead to strip the way JSON or XML does, the size reduction on ordinary prose is usually modest — a few percent at most.
